UK budget steers steady course for 0.7

The budget announced by the chancellor, Alistair Darling on 24th March confirmed the government's spending plans for 2010-2011 agreed in last year's budget.

This means that overseas development assistance should rise to £9.1bn in 2010/11 and the government will ensure that it continues to rise so that it reaches 0.7% GNI by 2013.

DFID will be contributing £150 million of efficiency savings to the governments cross-departmental effeciency drive, but there will be no overall cuts in frontline development spending. See DFID's press release.
