A recent ICAI report into DFID’s work with UNICEF has highlighted the positive results of this work but has also recommended that DFID needs to engage with UNICEF in a more systematic and transparent manner. The report’s recommendations fit well with generally agreed principles of the aid effectiveness agenda including focusing on ownership, transparency and results.

Today the UK Chancellor announced as part of his budget speech that the UK will meet its commitment to spend 0.7% of gross national income this year on aid. This means that the UK will become the 6th donor to reach the target, the only G8 country to do so. (more…)

Today the Chancellor has announced that the UK will meet its historic commitment to spend 0.7% of gross national income on development aid this year. Through the Enough Food For Everyone IF campaign, over 170 British NGOs have been calling on the UK government to deliver on this promise it made to the world’s poorest and most marginalised people over 40 years ago.
